Commonwealth Symphony
The Commonwealth Symphony is a landmark project which celebrates cultural heritage and diversity on a global stage.
The Commonwealth Symphony is an original composition from Rekesh Chauhan - it was recorded in January 2026 with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) alongside guests artists from across the Commonwealth.
The composition celebrates the diversity of musical sounds from across the 56 Commonwealth Nations, blending classical and contemporary styles. It brings together the world-renowned CBSO with musicians, instruments and artistic approaches from across the Commonwealth.
The world premiere of the Commonwealth Symphony took place on 9 March 2026 at the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration at Westminster Abbey, organised by The Royal Commonwealth Society, and was performed for Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales and Members of the Royal Family.
